In 1984 Anna Lee Fisher became the first mother in space on the second flight of the Space Shuttle Discovery, the 14th flight of NASA’s Space Shuttle program. The mission (STS-51A) was crewed by Fisher with commander Frederick Hauck, pilot David Walker and mission specialists Dale Gardner and Joseph Allen.
